In my earlier post, I compared the benefits of Massage Therapy to Reiki, and spoke of the value touch therapy brings to stress-related pain. Now, that you’re ready to give Reiki a try, make your first session an enjoyable and beneficial experience with these tips:
- Be aware–Reiki connects mind and body–a rich opportunity to experience being fully present and relaxed, two major components of meditation. Awareness is a key component in your session; sense my light touch BUT choose to remain alert to the physical contact instead of following the touch protocol.
- Be Positive–As I place my hands on your shoulders, I will ask you to think, then say, the positive outcome you wish to manifest from your session.
- Be Comfortable —You remain fully clothed for your session, choose comfortable clothing with no binding seams. Leave worries at the door and commit to supporting your health and well-being. Cell phone off and in a place where it won’t call to you!
- BE in Silence – During your Reiki session, I place my hands lightly on joints to encourage the energy you receive to amplify and move. Reiki is done in silence to promote your inner healing work.
When the session ends, you will get up and walk to facilitate and integrate the energetic changes your body chooses to make.
The best ways for you to enhance the benefits of your Reiki session are:
- Decide to have a quiet, relaxing day.
- Take a nap.
- Drink water.
- If stress comes, take at least 5 deep belly breaths, to help you remain calm,
- Laugh, smile and have fun!
